In 2024, EKTA partnered with a qualified technical training and career advancement partner to help undergraduate students in Jordan develop the skills needed to thrive in the digital economy. Jordan has made employment in this sector a national priority and is promoting it as a viable pathway for youth, women, and refugees. Their Digital Transformation Strategy sets out ambitious goals for job creation in the sector by 2025.
A selected cohort of motivated learners, almost half newly empowered women, completed an immersive bootcamp in Full Stack Software development in March. As a capstone project, they completed an end-to-end real-world team project, followed by career coaching from industry professionals. In April 2024, we attended their Graduation Event in Amman, Jordan.
Global and Regional Tech companies have operational bases in Jordan. Local organizations are also experiencing rapid organic growth in core and support services. Our Graduates are positioned to be designers and software developers with annual income three times higher than they could aspire to before training, a life-changing outcome in 9 to 12 months.
EKTA’s digital skills training and career advancement project demonstrates how staffing needs in the emerging digital economy can be met with competent, career-ready Jordanian professionals equipped to fulfill the needs of the region and the world.
In 2012 we learned about an innovative approach to empowering high school students in underserved communities in the US. The idea was to create a safe space where they shared answers to life’s bigger questions and uncovered their own true aspirations.
With input from University and High School Faculty and Students, The QUESTion Project™ was co-created by our dear friends, Gerard Senehi and his wife, Francesca Rusciani at Open Future Institute, and launched in 2015.
The QUESTion Class™ is an engaging, interactive classroom workshop that draws students into an exploration of life’s bigger questions across five pillars:
Choice;
Purpose;
Fearlessness;
Interconnectedness; and
A Bigger Picture.
The class in action is an immersive experience for educators and students. The methodology inspires peer-to peer connection based on mutual trust and understanding. The outcome is a sense of personal agency and principled self-empowerment.
The QUESTion Class™ is also a real-life opportunity for students to learn and use the 21st Century skills that entrepreneurial experts and large organizations alike recognize as key attributes for future leaders and team members.
The QUESTion Academy™ helps academicians develop a lighter touch while facilitating student interactions and encouraging creativity. The program complements the school’s academic curriculum, preparing students for fulfilling careers of impact and purpose.
